Acute kidney injury after total arch replacement combined with frozen elephant trunk implantation: Incidence, risk factors, and outcome
Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia Mar 27, 2018
Zhou H, et al. - Herein, patients who underwent total arch replacement (TAR) combined with frozen elephant trunk (FET) implantation were examined to determine the incidence of and risk factors for postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) and the association of AKI with short-term outcomes. A high-risk for postoperative AKI was reported for TAR combined with FET implantation vs other types of thoracic aortic surgeries. The only modifiable predictor of AKI was cardiopulmonary bypass duration. It was suggested that patients may benefit from moderate hypothermic circulatory arrest instead of deep hypothermic circulatory arrest.
