Acute kidney injury after burn surgery: Preoperative neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio as a predictive factor
Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Sep 14, 2018
Kim HY, et al. - In burn-injured patients, researchers assessed the independent risk factors for postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI), including neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR). They collected the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative variables of 473 burn-injured patients. Risk factors for AKI following burn surgery (which is associated with early postoperative mortality) are total body surface area burned, inhalation injury, and preoperative NLR. Useful information could be offered by preoperative NLR for the early detection of postoperative AKI and consequent mortality in burn-injured patients.
