Acute invasive fungal rhinosinusitis: Our 2-year experience and outcome analysis

Shanbag R, et al. - Between September 2015 and September 2017, researchers analyzed 14 individuals to estimate the outcome of several perspectives of treatment of acute invasive fungal rhinosinusitis (AIFRS) including sample collection, diagnosis, and medicosurgical treatment. They observed multiple comorbidities in 6 candidates with an average delay in presentation of 9 days. They preferred potassium hydroxide mount as the screening test of choice essentially with a minimum of 2 sittings of debridement. They recorded all participants alive and disease free in an average follow-up period of 15.12 months. They suggested a firm diagnosis due to a high index of suspicion, awareness among medical fraternity and precise sample collection.
