Acute autonomic neuropathy with severe gastrointestinal symptoms in children: A case series
BMC Neurology Aug 30, 2017
Pang LY, et al. – This study strived to provide a description of the manifestations and treatment of acute autonomic neuropathy (AAN) in children and therefore help clinicians to make the accurate diagnosis early so that the prognosis of the patients can be improved. They concluded that the clinical manifestations of AAN were diverse, generalized, and non–specific. The most common initial symptoms were gastrointestinal disorders. Compared to other symptoms, symptoms of the gastrointestinal system and abnormal secretion of glands were severe and more common. The mechanism of AAN remained unknown. There was no treatment recommendation although intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) and intravenous glucocorticoid could be used in clinical practice and further study was needed.
