Acupuncture for breast cancer-related lymphedema: A randomized controlled trial
Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Jun 15, 2018
Bao T, et al. - A randomized controlled trial was performed to compare acupuncture (AC) to usual care wait-list control (WL) for treatment of persistent breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL). For this analysis, women with moderate BCRL lasting more than 6 months were randomly allocated to AC or WL. AC comprised twice weekly manual acupuncture over six weeks. According to the findings, this acupuncture protocol was safe and well tolerated. In pretreated patients receiving concurrent lymphedema treatment, it did not significantly decrease BCRL. In breast cancer survivors with persistent BCRL, this regimen did not improve upon conventional lymphedema treatment.
