Actual 10-year survival after hepatic resection of colorectal liver metastases: What factors preclude cure?
Surgery Feb 21, 2018
Creasy JM, et al. - The 10-year survivors after resection of colorectal liver metastases were analyzed, the observed rate of cure was reported, and factors that preclude cure were recognized. After resection of colorectal liver metastases, the 10-year survival was 24% with an observed 20% cure rate. An estimated probability of cure less than 5% was observed in patients with a high clinical risk score and extrahepatic disease. In the presence of these factors, strong consideration should be given to pre-operative strategies, such as neoadjuvant chemotherapy, to help select patients for surgical therapy.
