Jelski W, et al. - Researchers undertook an estimation of the activity of alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) isoenzymes and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) in the sera of patients with hepatitis C. A rise was noted in the activity of class I and II ADH isoenzymes in the sera of patients with hepatitis C. It appeared to be due to the release of these isoenzymes from damaged liver cells.
