Acetyl-CoA synthetase 2 enhances tumorigenesis and is indicative of a poor prognosis for patients with renal cell carcinoma
Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations Mar 07, 2018
Zhang S, et al. - Acetyl-CoA synthetase 2 (ACSS2) expression and function in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) were determined using immunohistochemistry, and the clinicopathologic correlation and prognostic relevance were evaluated. Cell-based functional assays demonstrated that RCC cell growth, migration, and invasion are inhibited by ACSS2 knockdown, whereas overexpression of ACSS2 enhanced these effects. It was noted that ACSS2 increases RCC progression and aggressive behavior and is an independent prognostic factor.
