Accuracy of anti-GBM antibodies in diagnosing anti-glomerular basement membrane disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis
American Journal of Nephrology Aug 23, 2021
Shiroshita A, Oda Y, Takenouchi S, et al. - Findings from this systematic review suggest high sensitivity and specificity of anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) antibodies in the diagnosis of anti-GBM disease.
Using MEDLINE, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, researchers identified six studies (1,691 patients) and 11 index tests for inclusion in the systematic review.
As 67% of the included studies had case-control design, a high risk of bias and concerns regarding the applicability of patient selection were noted.
The pooled sensitivity was 93% and specificity was 97%.
The high risk of bias and indirectness indicates a low certainty of evidence.
