Abnormal microarchitecture and stiffness in postmenopausal women using chronic inhaled glucocorticoids
Osteoporosis International Jun 17, 2018
Liu Y, et al. - Authors assessed the skeletal microarchitecture and stiffness in postmenopausal (PM) women using chronic inhaled glucocorticoids (IGCs). Compared to controls, substantial abnormalities in volumetric BMD, microarchitecture, and stiffness were seen in PM women using IGCs. At the radius, these abnormalities were most severe. Findings suggested a probability of major, never-before recognized, skeletal deficits in PM women using IGCs. In IGC users, whole bone stiffness was lower at the radius and tended to be lower at the tibia.
