Abnormal high-resolution manometry findings and outcomes after paraesophageal hernia repair
Journal of the American College of Surgeons Apr 04, 2018
Wirsching A, et al. - Researchers sought to assess the clinical relevance of abnormal esophageal peristalsis diagnosed by high resolution manometry (HRM) in paraesophageal hernia (PEH) patients. Patients displaying abnormal motility according to the Chicago classification prior to surgical repair of PEH showed similar symptomatic improvement compared to patients with normal motility (NM). Thus they recommended that surgical repair of giant paraesophageal hernias should not be affected by selective motility disorders diagnosed by pre-operative HRM.
