Abdominal ultrasound does not reveal significant alterations in patients with nonceliac wheat sensitivity
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology Dec 21, 2018
Soresi M, et al. - In this prospective study, researchers assessed abdominal ultrasound signs in patients with nonceliac wheat sensitivity (NCWS) for diagnostic features and compared these aspects with those of celiac patients to evaluate whether ultrasound can be useful in the differential diagnosis between NCWS and celiac disease (CD). Study participants included 45 NCWS patients (11 males, 34 females; mean age 35.7 y). The ultrasound of NCWS patients does not show a characteristic pattern that can be useful for the diagnosis. However, US can be helpful in distinguishing between patients with NCWS and CD, especially those with seronegative CD.
