American Journal of Roentgenology Feb 28, 2019
Je BK, et al. - Investigators researched the data related to 50 kids to analyze the clinical characteristics and imaging findings of abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) in children. They recorded increased abdominal contents, particularly bowel dilatation, the most frequent risk factor of pediatric ACS whereas 38 cases underwent decompressive intervention. They recorded ascites, basal lung atelectasis, inferior vena cava (IVC) compression, and abnormal enhancement of bowel wall when CT and MR images of the subjects with were examined. They observed the following suggestive imaging features in the candidates with ACS: IVC compression, basal lung atelectasis, heterogeneous perfusion of the kidneys, ascites, and subcutaneous edema.
