A thorough psychometric comparison between Athens Insomnia Scale and Insomnia Severity Index among patients with advanced cancer
Journal of Sleep Research Jul 26, 2019
Lin CY, et al. - In this investigation, researchers contrasted two frequently used insomnia psychometric tools – Athens Insomnia Scale and Insomnia Severity Index – among patients with advanced cancer using classical test theory and Rasch analyses. Patients with stage III or IV cancer (n = 573; 326 males; mean age = 61.3 years; SD = 10.7) participated in the research through convenience sampling from eight oncology units of university hospitals in Iran. Based on the Athens Insomnia Scale or the Insomnia Severity Index score, significant variations in the actigraphy measure were discovered between insomniacs and non-insomniacs. Healthcare providers can use either Athens Insomnia Scale or Insomnia Severity Index with promising results to understand the insomnia of advanced cancer patients.
