A systematic review of placental biomarkers predicting small for gestational age infants
Placenta Sep 16, 2017
Ruchob R, et al. - This study sought to determine and appraise the studies analyzing the correlations between placental biomarkers and small for gestational age (SGA), and those biomarkers predictive value. Low placental biomarker reliability was possibly seen. It could be the result of the multifactorial nature of SGA infants. This research targeted SGA only and its detection of potential placenta-specific biomarkers of SGA. this facilitated a better comprehension of how placental function underlined fetal growth. The use of placental biomarkers alone, however, was insufficient for predicting SGA. The analysis of combinations of biomarkers and other predictive tests was recommended for their ability to predict the risk of SGA.
