A systematic review and meta-analysis of the prevalence and phenotype of adult-onset atopic dermatitis
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Jun 06, 2018
Lee HH, et al. - Experts ascertained the rates, predictors and phenotypical differences of adult-onset atopic dermatitis (AD). They conducted a systematic review of all published observational studies in MEDLINE, EMBASE, GREAT, LILACS, Cochrane Library, and Scopus that analyzed the age of AD onset beyond 10 years of age. Results demonstrated that AD was not only a disease of childhood. Adult-onset disease was seen in 1 in 4 adults with AD. Authors noted an association of adult-onset AD with distinct clinical characteristics.
