A systematic review and meta-analysis of the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis in pediatric and young patients
European Journal of Pediatrics | Nov 19, 2017
He M, et al. - Researchers aspired to synthesize the current clinical evidences with regard to the effects of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) in the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis (OM). It was determined that LLLT, as a prophylaxis, reduced mucositis and severe mucositis and decreased the average severity of oral mucositis in pediatric and young patients with cancer. In addition, therapeutic LLLT reduced the average severity of oral mucositis and oral pain. In order to determine the optimal parameter of LLLT in pediatric and young patients, additional analyses were warranted.
