Kunkel ST, et al. - This study represents first systematic review and meta-analysis of the direct anterior approach (DAA) for hemiarthroplasty for displaced femoral neck fractures. Evidence comparing DAA with another surgical approach (anterolateral, lateral, posterolateral, posterior) were analyzed and it was found that DAA provided superior early functional mobility and, in comparison with posterior capsular approaches, it was associated with a significantly lower dislocation rate.
