A systematic review and meta-analysis of predictors of airway intervention in adult epiglottitis

The Laryngoscope Jun 14, 2019

Sideris A, et al. - Researchers sought to collaborate evidence on predictors of airway intervention in this investigation involving adults with a diagnosis of epiglottitis. For the meta-analysis, 30 studies and a total of 10,148 patients were finally incorporated. Clinicians are expected to have to secure airways in 10.9% of cases in the post-vaccine era. The most reliable clinical characteristics connected with the need for airway intervention are the presence of an epiglottic abscess, stridor, or history of diabetes mellitus.
