A systematic review and meta-analysis of endovascular juxtarenal aortic aneurysm repair demonstrates lower perioperative mortality compared with open repair
Journal of Vascular Surgery Sep 26, 2019
Doonan RJ, et al. - Via performing a systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers sought to assess outcomes of endovascular vs open repair for the treatment of juxtarenal aortic aneurysms. They performed an inclusion of 15 studies with 5,121 patients (1506 endovascular, 3615 open) for analysis. Patients undergoing endovascular repair were older, more likely to be male, have diabetes, coronary artery disease, and chronic kidney disease. Data indicated lower 30-day mortality, acute renal failure, bowel ischemia, and length of stay, but increased spinal cord ischemia, in correlation with endovascular repair.
