A study of treatments and outcomes in elderly women with cervical cancer
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Jun 21, 2018
Shimamoto K, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the influence of age on treatment and prognosis in patients with cervical cancer via retrospectively analyzing 959 women with stage Ib–IV cervical cancer treated at their institution between 1997 and 2014. Contrary to the expectations, there appeared less influence of age on the prognosis in patients with cervical cancer. Depending on the type of standard treatment provided to the elderly, better outcomes could be achieved. They recommend considering patient’s general condition and background while deciding the appropriate modality and intensity of treatment.
