A stemness-based eleven-gene signature correlates with the clinical outcome of hepatocellular carcinoma
BMC Cancer Jun 23, 2021
Hong L, Zhou Y, Xie X, et al. - The present study was conducted to explore whether a stemness-based eleven-gene signature correlates with the clinical outcome of hepatocellular carcinoma. Researchers distinguished molecular subtypes by cumulative distribution function clustering on 207 prognostic significance of stemness related genes (SRGs). They distinguished Hub genes in molecular subtypes by protein-protein interaction network analysis, and then enrolled for determination of prognostic genes. They conducted univariate, LASSO and multivariate Cox regression analyses to evaluate prognostic genes and construct the prognostic gene signature. The performance of the gene signature was evaluated by using time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve, Kaplan-Meier curve and nomogram. The outcomes of this study demonstrate new light on the role of stemness related genes within hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and the established 11-SRG signature can be utilized as a novel prognostic marker for survival prognostication in patients with HCC.
