A simplified risk stratification method for women with stage I endometrial carcinoma
American Journal of Clinical Oncology Jan 30, 2019
Elshaikh MA, et al. - A total of 976 females with endometrial carcinoma who underwent a hysterectomy and did not receive any adjuvant therapy were assessed for a median follow-up of 65 months to generate an uncomplicated prognostic index for cancer recurrence in females with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage I endometrial carcinoma, solely of endometrioid histology. Based on three independent predictors of recurrence (tumor grade 2/3, the presence of lymphovascular space invasion and stage IB), the authors included three risk groups in the final recurrence model. They observed 4%, 16%, and 44% of 5-year recurrence rates for groups 0, 1, and 2 or 3, respectively in this simplified predictive tool.
