A retrospective comparison of a medial pivot and posterior stabilized total knee arthroplasty with respect to patient reported and radiographic outcomes
Journal of Arthroplasty Dec 11, 2017
Samy D, et al. - Researchers compared the medial pivot (MP) type total knee (TKA) to posterior-stabilized (PS)-TKA in this study, primarily focusing on range of motion (ROM) and patient-reported satisfaction. They found that MP-TKA vs PS-TKA afforded better score on the Forgotten Joint Score; particularly with regards to deep knee flexion and stability of the prosthesis. Moreover, given to its highly congruent medial tibiofemoral articulation, the MP-TKA design may offer improved patient outcomes.
