A retrospective analysis of complications and surgical outcome of 1380 ears: Experience review of paediatric otoplasty
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Oct 28, 2020
Binet A, et al. - Researchers conducted this retrospective study to present the postoperative outcome and possible recurrence of prominent ears after otoplasty in a University Hospital Center. In total, 705 patients were followed after otoplasty. The sample consisted of all children who had been treated for prominent ears following the same surgical technique from January 01, 1993, to December 31, 2017. The investigation verified the prevalence of females in the operative treatment of prominent ears, as well as the predominance of the bilateral form of this anomaly. The technique of otoplasty shown here is safe and has a low risk of complications often mentioned in the literature. It will be accompanied by a prospective study with a survey of complications and level of satisfaction with the findings.
