A resistance exercise program improves functional capacity of patients with psoriatic arthritis: A randomized controlled trial
Clinical Rheumatology Jan 24, 2018
Roger-Silva D, et al. - An assessment was pursued of the effectiveness of resistance training in patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA), with regard to their functional capacity. Results illustrated an improvement in the muscular strength in almost all exercises in the intervention group (IG), excluding the exercise for biceps. Statistical variations, however, were discovered between the groups only on exercise “leg extension” in IG compared to control group (CG). It was deduced that the resistance training was effective in improving functional capacity, disease activity, and quality of life of patients with psoriatic arthritis. The yielded clinical improvements did not couple with prominent variations in the muscular strength.
