Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Oct 19, 2017
Oxlund J, et al. - This study hypothesized that ropivacaine administration as automated intermittent boluses would reduce pain after major shoulder surgery. Among study participants undergoing major shoulder surgery, researchers observed that automated intermittent boluses of ropivacaine vs. continuous infusion did not reduce pain or rescue opioid consumption. Notably, the automated intermittent bolus group had significantly less force on coughing and more hoarseness.
