A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of the use of viscous oral cromolyn sodium for the treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis

Lieberman JA, et al. - The efficacy of cromolyn in reducing esophageal eosinophilia in patients with eosinophilic esophagitis was assessed herein, with a focus on symptom improvement and adverse effects. No significant attenuation in esophageal eosinophilia resulted from the use of viscous oral cromolyn, however, it did cause reduction in symptom scores (although not significantly more than placebo) and led to complete resolution in one subject.
