A randomized double-blind placebo-controlled crossover-style trial of buspirone in functional dysphagia and ineffective esophageal motility
Neurogastroenterology & Motility Sep 13, 2017
Aggarwal N, et al. - This research aspired to determine if buspirone improves manometric parameters and symptoms in patients with overlapping Ineffective Esophageal Motility (IEM)/Functional Dysphagia (FD). In IEM/FD patients treated with buspirone, the physicians found no difference in terms of high-resolution esophageal manometry (HREM) parameters or symptom scores compared to placebo, despite previous data demonstrating improved esophageal motility in healthy volunteers. To identify novel agents for this condition, further research was necessary.
