A randomized controlled trial of salpingectomy vs standard tubal ligation at the time of cesarean delivery
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Jan 21, 2018
Subramaniam A, et al. - Researchers, in this work, ascertained the feasibility and safety of salpingectomy (SPG) compared with standard tubal ligation (TL) at the time of cesarean delivery (CD) in women with undesired fertility. In nearly 2/3 of women desiring permanent contraception with CD, SPG can be successfully completed. In view of the observation that SPG is both feasible and safe, it can be offered for ovarian cancer risk reduction. They suggested considering the cost-effectiveness of this strategy as the procedure adds on average 15 minutes to operative times.
