Williamson K, et al. - Researchers here assessed the effect of a single early dose of a diuretic in infants with moderate to severe bronchiolitis. Secondarily, they determined whether diuretic reduces the use of noninvasive ventilation and hospital length of stay. As per theoretical evidence, a single dose of a diuretic to reduce lung fluid could improve respiratory distress in these children. However, this randomized controlled medication trial demonstrated no difference in outcomes.
