Braaten KP, et al. - Researchers sought to perform a comparison of the safety and efficacy of an algorithm for abortion intravenous sedation dosing (AAID) to standard dosing during first trimester surgical abortion. They observed that for the general population of surgical abortion patients, an intravenous sedation algorithm did not demonstrate significant benefit. The algorithm could be a helpful tool for providers with less experience titrating intravenous sedation to guide sedation dosing.
