A randomized clinical trial comparing patellar tendon, hamstring tendon and double-bundle ACL reconstructions: Patient-reported and clinical outcomes at five-year follow-up
Arthroscopy Oct 16, 2017
Mohtadi N, et al. - This study compared the patient-reported disease-specific quality of life outcome at a minimum five-years following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using patellar tendon (PT), quadruple hamstring tendons (HT) and the double-bundle hamstring tendons (DB) graft. Findings demonstrated that the 3 ACL reconstruction techniques afforded no difference in disease-specific quality-of-life outcome or International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) grades at five-years. HT and DB groups had significantly more traumatic re-injuries than the PT group. Contralateral ACL tears and repeat surgery increased during the 2-year follow-up.
