A randomised trial of serratus anterior plane block for analgesia after thoracoscopic surgery
Anaesthesia Aug 23, 2018
Park MH, et al. - Authors assessed the impact of pre-operative serratus anterior plane block on postoperative pain and opioid consumption following thoracoscopic surgery. The rates of nausea, vomiting, dizziness or length of hospital stay did not differ significantly. With serratus anterior plane block, reduction in mean (SD) remifentanil dose during surgery, reduction in the worst median (IQR [range]) pain scores, reduction in the worst median (IQR [range]) pain scores reported in the first 24 postoperative hours were seen. Therefore, to reduce pain and opioid use after thoracoscopic lung surgery serratus anterior plane block may be used.
