A randomised controlled trial of a facilitated home-based rehabilitation intervention in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and their caregivers: the REACH-HFpEF Pilot Study
BMJ Open Apr 14, 2018
Lang CC, et al. - Researchers evaluated the feasibility and acceptability of the novel Rehabilitation EnAblement in CHronic Heart Failure (REACH-HF) rehabilitation intervention for patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and their caregivers. Study participants were randomized to either the usual care plus REACH-HF group (intervention) or the usual care alone (control) group. Of patients who had a hospital admission at 6 months, 4 were from the intervention group and 7 were from the control group, with only 4 (all control) being HF related. Caregivers’ mental health and burden among the intervention group also improved. The feasibility and rationale for delivering the REACH-HF facilitated home-based rehabilitation intervention was supported in the findings.
