A prospective validation of the Bova score in normotensive patients with acute pulmonary embolism
Thrombosis Research Apr 07, 2018
Bova C, et al. - The Bova score has been used in the detection of intermediate-high risk patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE), however has only gotten retrospective validations, so researchers recruited patients from 13 general or academic hospitals not included in the original derivation cohort in order to gain prospective validation. Using the baseline data, enrollees were stratified into the 3 Bova risk stages (I–III). When compared with stages I and II combined, subjects classified as stage III by the Bova score demonstrated a 6.5-fold increased risk for adverse outcomes. Normotensive patients with acute PE were accurately stratified into stages of increasing risk of 30-day PE-related complications by the Bova score.
