Thapa M, et al. - Authors evaluated the sensitivity and specificity of different clinical criteria individually and in combination for classifying leprosy into paucibacillary (PB)/multibacillary (MB) spectrum. Findings suggested that among available clinical criteria, the best was the current WHO system of leprosy classification based on number of skin lesions (NSL). Appropriate categorizing and leprosy treatment with reasonable sensitivity and specificity was assured with the uniform and sensible application of this criteria.
