A prospective, randomized trial of splinting after minicarpal tunnel release
The Journal of Hand Surgery Mar 03, 2018
Logli AL, et al. - This study was carried out to assess whether any significant differences existed in patient-reported or clinical outcomes in 3 different postoperative orthotic regimens: no orthosis, removable orthosis, and plaster nonremovable orthosis—following miniopen carpal tunnel release (CTR) surgery for the minicarpal tunnel syndrome. Up to at least 12 months after miniopen CTR, the postoperative orthotic regimen did not change any patient-reported outcome. At 6 and 12 months, lateral pinch strength was noted to be weaker in the nonremovable orthosis group. The use of any postoperative orthosis after routine miniopen CTR was not supported.
