A prospective, multi‐center, clinical trial of a 10‐kHz spinal cord stimulation system in the treatment of chronic pelvic pain
Pain Practice Aug 13, 2020
Tate JL, Stauss T, Li S, et al. - In this prospective, single‐arm pilot study of individuals with clinical diagnoses of CPP, researchers investigated the effects of paresthesia‐independent 10‐kHz spinal cord stimulation (SCS) in individuals with chronic pelvic pain (CPP). The individuals had mean pain scores of ≥ 5.0 cm on a 10‐cm VAS. Among the 21 individuals who underwent the 10‐kHz SCS trial, 17 were successful and 14 individuals received permanent implants. Pelvic pain was reduced in individuals with CPP in correlation with receiving paresthesia‐independent stimulation with 10‐kHz SCS with no associated unexpected AEs. Results of this study support the possible utility of this therapeutic modality in treating patients with CPP while improving their quality of life.
