A prognostic score for clinical success after revascularization of critical limb ischemia in hemodialysis patients
Journal of Vascular Surgery Mar 29, 2019
Abualhin M, et al. - Via this retrospective study of prospectively gathered data, including consecutive hemodialysis (HD) patients treated for critical limb ischemia (CLI), risk factors for clinical success (CS) after revascularization of CLI in HD patients were defined and the findings were transformed into a prognostic score. Treatment of 131 patients (mean age, 70.2 ± 9.9 years; male, 76.3%) with a total of 180 limbs was done. Multivariable analysis indicated following as the independent negative factors: age, coronary artery disease (CAD), and Texas University Wound classification [TUWC] stage D. A prognostic model based on these factors seems efficacious in estimating an individual's chances of CS and may assist in the decision-making process. Irrespective of the type of revascularization, poor CS remain evident after revascularization in HD patients.
