A pilot study of intralesional methotrexate injections vs triamcinolone acetonide in patients affected by nail matrix psoriasis
Clinical and Experimental Dermatology Feb 08, 2022
This study reveals outcomes in 12 patients presenting with nail matrix psoriasis, limited to few nails, treated with intralesional injections of 25mg/ml methotrexate or 10mg/ml triamcinolone acetonide. Comparison was made between both options for response to therapy and follow-up results.
Every 6 weeks for 24 weeks, patients received treatments and then observed for 6 months.
During each session and at each follow up visit, a photographic documentation and a NAPSI scoring were obtained.
At the end of the 4 sessions, disease improved in all cases and these data were corroborated at follow up particularly for the methotrexate treated group.
