A pilot randomized trial of CBT4CBT for women in residential treatment for substance use disorders
Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment Sep 16, 2021
Kelpin SS, Parlier-Ahmad AB, Jallo N, et al. - Researchers herein reported benchmark data supporting the utility of computer-based training for cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT4CBT) in residential treatment for women with SUDs.
Using a two-arm pilot RCT, researchers determined the feasibility of CBT4CBT as an adjunct to residential treatment in a sample of women with SUDs.
Women randomized to standard residential treatment plus access to the CBT4CBT program (N = 34) were compared with those randomized to residential treatment alone (TAU; N = 29).
Findings revealed a lower likelihood of relapse, longer time to relapse, and fewer days of substance use in the follow-up period among women in the CBT4CBT group vs those in TAU.
