A novel protein-based autologous topical serum for skin regeneration
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Aug 15, 2019
Anitua E, et al. - Given that a novel 100% autologous topical serum was developed using plasma rich in growth factors technology, researchers sought to study the novel formulation's physicochemical characterization and biological potential. According to results, the autologous topical serum provided an ideal index of spreadability and a suitable shear thinning behavior allowing for simple handling and fast integration within the cutaneous tissue. The formulation has a high growth factor load with the ability to penetrate progressively into the skin's dermal/epidermal layers. It is biocompatible and encourages chemotactic activity and cell proliferation. By stimulating collagen and hyaluronic acid expression, the autologous topical serum encourages the biosynthetic activity of cells. These results are an in situ and simple to prepare autologous topical serum based on the patient's own blood with physicochemical and bioactive properties that can be used for purposes of skin regeneration.
