A novel predictive model for poor in-hospital outcomes in patients with acute kidney injury after cardiac surgery.
The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery May 16, 2021
Chen Z, Li J, Sun y, et al. - This study sought to create and validate a novel predictive model for poor in-hospital outcomes among cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI) patients. Researchers recruited a sum of 196 patients diagnosed with CSA-AKI in this study as the training cohort, and 32 blood cytokines were assessed. They conducted the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression and random forest quantile-classifier to distinguish the key blood predictors for in-hospital composite outcomes (requiring renal replacement therapy or (and) in-hospital death). A promising predictive model was created and validated for in-hospital composite outcomes among CSA-AKI patients and indicated IL-16 and IL-8 as useful predictors to improve risk stratification for poor in-hospital outcomes among CSA-AKI patients.
