A novel multiparametric score for the detection and grading of prosthetic mitral valve obstruction in cases with different disc motion abnormalities
Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology May 09, 2019
Meskin M, et al. - Computational fluid dynamic models have been implemented in this analysis to simulate valve fluid dynamics in various clinical scenarios to improve the reliability of transthoracic doppler echocardiogram (TDE)-based prosthetic mitral valve thrombosis (PMVT) diagnosis. According to results, there is no significant difference between symmetric and asymmetric stenosis, the location of the probe and the waveform of the flow rate, and confirmed that the single diagnostic modality can not predict thrombosis in a number of relevant cases, referring to cases of mild and mild-severe stenosis. The outcomes indicate that to provide a correct diagnosis, a reliable estimate must take into account both the mean flow rate and the transmitral velocity profile.
