A novel index using routine clinical parameters for predicting significant liver inflammation in chronic hepatitis B
Journal of Viral Hepatitis Jun 29, 2018
Wang J, et al. - Researchers aimed at developing simple predictive index for liver inflammation in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) using routine clinical parameters. As per findings, they suggested utility of gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) to platelets (PLT) ratio (GPR) as a novel and simple index for predicting significant liver inflammation in CHB, especially for HBeAg-positive CHB. In all patients with CHB and HBeAg-positive CHB patients, GPR displayed significantly superior diagnostic performance for significant inflammation compared to that of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST) and GGT, but, in HBeAg-negative CHB patients, it was comparable with ALT, AST and GGT.
