A new modification of the Duckett technique for one-stage repairing urethral plate transected hypospadias: Another option for severe hypospadias?
International Urology and Nephrology Sep 29, 2017
Huang LQ, et al. - This study assessed the clinical application as well as the ability of the new modification of the Duckett technique in attenuating the incidence of urethral strictures for urethral plate transected hypospadias. For patients with proximal hypospadias, a dramatically lowered incidence of strictures was reported, however, the procedure was commonly complicated with small fistulas which could be repaired easily. Furthermore, a better and function of neourethra were obtained, in comparison with Duckett urethroplasty, as evident in the uroflow pattern results. These initial findings were indicative of reliability and potential of the modified procedure to be a suitable option for proximal hypospadias.
