A new customized ureteral stent with non-refluxing silicone end-piece to alleviate stent-related symptoms in malignant diseases

VOGT B, et al. - In the present study, the researchers assessed the stent-related symptoms utilizing a new customized ureteral stent with a non-refluxing silicone end-piece. To reduce the amount of material, 17 consecutive people met with a double-pigtail stent for malignant ureteral obstruction allowed to met with a customized stent where the bladder loop was substituted by a non-refluxing silicone end-piece. No trouble in the placement of the customized stent was found. No stent failure, no dislodgment, and no calcification were seen in 6 months following stenting. It was found that the customized ureteral stent might constitute an advancement in the field of stent-related symptoms and seems appropriate for utilization in its current shape. Moreover, studies exploring and exploiting new concepts were greatly needed to reduce stent-related symptoms in all individuals involve those with cancer.
