Batistaki C, et al. - Researchers here examined recent literature to assess the possible effect of dexamethasone on postoperative analgesic consumption. In laparoscopic cholecystectomies, thyroid, laparoscopic gynecologic and breast surgery, and tonsillectomies in children, dexamethasone administered at a dose of 8 mg before surgical incision could be beneficial. To support its use in other kinds of operations, dexamethasoneÂs potential impact on reducing postoperative analgesic requirements had to be examined in more detail in a systematic manner.
