A low psoas muscle volume correlates with a longer hospitalization after radical cystectomy

Saitoh-Maeda Y, et al. - The correlation existing between the psoas muscle volume with the length of hospitalization was inspected, among patients undergoing radical cystectomy. A link was noted between the presence of sarcopenia with considerably longer hospitalization after radical cystectomy, in male patients. It was also observed that in men, a psoas muscle index (PMI) <400 could be indicative of a significantly worse prognosis.
